dining out for life

Thursday, April 24 is Dining Out for Life day!

Dining Out for Life is an annual fundraiser where participating restaurants donate a portion of their proceeds to local  AIDS/HIV treatment and support organizations – by "local" I mean "local to the restaurant" – this is an international (USA and Canada) event. In the East Bay, the treatment center where my friend Tamar's husband works, Vital Life Services, is one of the beneficiaries.

For a better explanation, and to see if there's a DOFL event in your area, check out the website!

Special East Bay bonus:  Fenton's Creamery has created a special sundae — Vital Sweets — that will be on sale for the whole month of April. Sophie and I will be partaking of that at least twice this month.

I plan on corralling a bunch of coworkers to try lunch at Brown Sugar Kitchen, a new restaurant on Mandela Parkway in Oakland.

Generally I am in the "consumption is not fundraising" camp, but in this case I make a complete exception.
